Day Two - Montana Trip
Driving. Driving driving driving. Up at five again this morning after a bad night's sleep. The motel has the worst pillows, the beds were really samll, so I slept on the floor to make it worse and woke up with a crick in my neck. Then we were on the road again.
Not so much new scenery today. Once we hit Wyoming, the landscape got very blah and tan into eastern Montana. We missed carhenge, but stopped off at Devils Tower, which was awesome. Mom was humming a song from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, which I have never seen. I bought a cool necklace of an arrowhead (Not a real one, but still pretty.) and at a later gift shop I got a few shiny rocks. I like rocks.
We got to Great Falls today, and I'm now at Charlotte's house, which is really cute. I like it, and the bed I'm sleeping on is so comfy I want to lash it to he top of the car and take it home. Tomorrow we're going up to Gary's cabin in Lincoln after a day of vegging. we're going to go see POTC II tomorrow as well, which I'm really looking forward to. We'll go to Glacier National park on Monday, I think.
TRIP GOALS:
1: Get chocolate covered huckleberries for nanny.
2: Find a Benni Hana's in Montana and eat there if I have to pay for everyone myself.
3: Eat more huckleberries. Tried 'em today and found them delicious, esp. over a sundae.

Day One - Montana Trip
Today, I woke up at five am. Ugh, far too early. Finished packing, said goodbye to the kitty and on the road by six. Whee! Today we drove up through Nebraska and into South Dakota. We went through the Black Hills, which are pretty cool, and saw Mount Rushmore. They really are sort of smaller than they seem on postcards and tv. Continued up and we are now in Belle Fourche, South Dakota, and we'll finish the trip tomorrow. Maybe see the Devil's Tower.
I found that I prefer the scenery in the foothills of Nebraska as compared to the blah flatness in GI. It's much prettier, less crowded and wider, somehow. Apparently, South Dakota has a ton more trees than Nebraska, which I like.
The car ride wasn't bad. We stopped everynow and then for gas and to stretch, so even though I shared the backseat with foods and my books, various electronics and pillows, I managed to organize it so that I could stretch out and piled the pillows behind me. Quite comfy.
We're now at our little motel, a Super 8, and it's nice, better than the First Inn Gold in Kearney that I stayed in for speech camp. My only regret is they have no pool :( Oh well.
GOALS FOR THE TRIP:
1: Get chocolate covered huckleberrys for Nanny.
2: Find a Benni Hana's in Montana. Yeah!
