    about a girl

Why the name? Well, 'Melia' is my middle name. It's also my mum's middle name and she goes by Melia everywhere online. So, I chose to go around as MiniMelia :) Simple, no?

I love cats...they taste just like chicken.

    Another good weekend...

Okay, Thursday technically isn't the weekend, but it's close enough.
First of all, Thursday night I attended and worked at a concert at a local movie theater. It was a TON of fun, because I really liked one of the bands and I got to stand all of two inches from the stage. I'm pretty sure my ears tried to close themselves up, the music had probably surpassed the safe decible level from the first chord from the guitar. I got autographs from the members of said band that I like, and even got a hug from the lead singer! Whee!
Friday night I had my first babysitting job for one of mum's colleagues' three- and four-year old boys, who were absolutely adorable. They were very well-behaved, and even went to bed as reasonably as can be expected for boys that age. We cycled through about three movies, played with some legos, finished watching Dora's Pirate Adventure (ugh) and by then the older one was ready for bed. The younger one needed a little enticing, and by that I mean a tiny piece of his birthday cake (He had turned three that very day.) And to cap that off, I got twenty bucks. Not bad, not bad at all.
Then, yesterday was homecoming. My high school had won their homecoming game, so it was bound to be fun. I went with my friend, Hanna, and we got there and immediately set search for another friend of ours, Nyissa (God, I can barely remember how to spell her name). We didn't find her, so we started dancing, and we found another friend of Hanna's and a friend of her's ( a guy) to dance with. We ended up almost having to teach the guy how to dance, as he insisted on dancing to get laughs, which was perfectly fine with me. Anyway, it was boiling hot in the gym where the dance was, so we frequently took little trips to stand beside an open door, on one of which we found Nyissa and her sister Teaguen. We sat on the benches and talked for a bit, and alternated between that and dancing. Eventually it got far too hot and I bought some ice cream for me, Hanna, and Nyissa. Not long after that, a guy, I don't know who, got mad for some reason and punched a wall. A brick wall by the sounds of it, and nearly broke his fingers and knuckles. There was more drama than that, however I am not at liberty to speak of it, for it involves a couple of friends of mine. No, not even to you, mum. The cap of the dance, though, was when we realized they were playing the Crazy Frog song, y'know the one I'm talking about, right? Well, we heard it and we ran, I mean RAN into the gym and started dancing to it. It totally made the night, for we love that song, much to the bewilderment of the chaperones, most of whom had grown up around Westside Story-ish music, and were not used to techno.
After the dance, Hanna and I went back to her house, where I was spending the night. When we got back, we started playing video games. We beat the final two bosses on Baten Kaitos, so I could see the cheesiest end of all cheesy endings, then we played some Zelda, I showed her around my Sims' neighborhood, and then we played a racing game that Hanna says you have to pause so you can throw up, because it's so fast, and in most of the tracks it is hard to tell which way is up. After we got bored with that, because Hanna kicked my butt repeatedly, I kicked her butt a few times and Super Smash Bros. Melee, then we watched Donnie Darko, and fell asleep around 4:30, halfway through the movie, and we woke up as the credits were scrolling across the screen at six, so I'm very zombie-like today.
Today, mum and I went to go see Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. I know it's aimed at kids smaller than me, but come on, it's Wallace and Gromit. I couldn't not go. Anyway, I liked it very much, it had numerous funny bits, though I barely managed to stay awake. Dark movie theater when I'm already sleepy. Almost fell asleep in the car. I took a nap when I came home, and apparently was muttering incoherently about potatoes afterward *shrugs*.
So there's my very very good weekend. Hope you enjoyed yours!
