    about a girl

Why the name? Well, 'Melia' is my middle name. It's also my mum's middle name and she goes by Melia everywhere online. So, I chose to go around as MiniMelia :) Simple, no?

I love cats...they taste just like chicken.

    Overall Good Weekend

First and probably foremost on my list of good things this weekend is the fact that I went to see Serenity, which came out this weekend, making millions of fans ecstatic. The movie is based on a tv show that got the boot a while back called Firefly. It's a brilliant show. It's a sci-fi space-western, and if that doesn't intrigue you, then you're just plain weird. It's about a spaceship, firefly model, called Serenity, but mostly it's about it's crew. There's Captain Malcom Reynolds, Zoe, first mate and kick-butt chick on the ship, Wash, pilot, meek husband of Zoe, and funny guy, Kaylee, the little girl engineer, and Jayne (The hero of Canton, the man they call, Jayne), the slightly crude, less intelligent, but good fighter. Then there's the passengers, Shepherd Booke, the preacher with the mysterious background, Simon Tam, the doctor who is trying to figure out what it is that happened to his sister, River, while she was in a government-run school. The show follows them as they misbehave and do crime between planets terraformed to be like Earth That Was, as earth had finally been destroyed by humans, and evade the Alliance, the form of government, and the same government that ran the school river was in. I love it!
Also, this weekend, mum and I went to the Harvest of Harmony parade, which was a plus. Parades are fun. Saw my high school marching band play, saw another high school do some funky trick while playing, felt sorry for the flag twirlers and cheerleaders in their tiny outfits in the cold. I was pleasantly surprised when one band played Star Wars, and another played a Beatles song. Fun.
Today, I was entitled to be girly on Nanny's credit card. My Great-Grandma (great is an apt title for her) gave me and mum her credit card and turned us loose in the mall with a $50 spending limit on a search for a homecoming dress. I tried on a few in the first store and put one on hold so we could see what other stores had. None of the other stores had anything. You'd think they would. Homecoming's not far off. So we ended up going with the one we had on hold. I love it. It's very pretty. It's got a bright blue slip underneath a see-through black netting, so it makes it look like a shiny dark blue. On the netting, it's got black sequins that form the shape of flowers which are outlined by dark blue glitter. It's full length and slinky, not frilly or poofy, and has spaghetti straps.
    Overall good weekend.
